Have you ever been faced with a decision and had absolutely no idea what to do, what to choose, or how to make the best choice?

Oh, friend, I have!

Sometimes life offers us lots of questions and very few answers. We find many paths before us, but very few reliable directions about which path is the best for us. It’s not easy, is it?

Maybe that’s where you are right now. It could be that you are bombarded with decisions, overwhelmed with choices, and stuck in uncertainty.

When you aren’t sure which path to take, here are 3 scriptures you can use as a GPS. [Click to Tweet]

Yet, if you trust God with your life, you can trust Him with the choices and decisions that are looming over you. You can trust that He has a “best case scenario” for you and He will lead you toward that choice. And, part of the way God does that for you is through His Word.

On this episode of the 4:13 Podcast, KC and I are here to help you learn to face uncertainty with confidence. We give you three scriptures you can use as a GPS when you don’t know what to do. You can pray them back to God as you seek direction. And, they are easy to remember because they spell the word “SET.”

3 Scriptures You Can Use as a GPS

1. Show Me Your Purpose

“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand” (Proverbs 19:21).

Ultimately, you want what God has purposed for you far more than what you have planned for yourself, right? That’s why when faced with a decision, you can first seek God’s purpose for you, and then the plan will follow the purpose.

There are so many good things you could do or say yes to, but just because something is a good plan doesn’t mean it fits in with the purpose God gave you. As you ask God to show you His purpose for this season, this day, this decision, and, ultimately, for your life, it will make what was once confusing more clear. Your plans change, but God’s purpose does not. If your purpose is for God to be glorified, then the plans you make will never contradict that. The path you take will always complement your purpose of bringing God glory.

When you walk in God’s truth, you are better able to hear and follow and walk toward the plan God has for you. [Click to Tweet]

2. Establish My Steps

“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps” (Proverbs 16:9).

Sometimes you just have to “plan your way,” and make your plans using your best judgment. And, you can fully intend to follow through, so you’ll get what or where you think is best. But, when you ask God to “establish” your steps, you’re asking Him to determine how that plan unfolds. Ultimately, it is God who controls the implementation of your plans. God is the One who determines the ultimate outcome. As He establishes your steps, He is ordering actions and events in such a way to pull off the best outcome for you.

3. Teach Me Your Way

“Teach me your way, O Lord; I will walk in your truth…” (Psalm 86:11a).

There are times you just need to be a student! When you ask God to teach you His way, it will expose how much or often you are following your own ways. It’s not necessarily that your ways are wrong; it just may be that your ways aren’t the best ways. But, God, your Master Teacher will teach you His way and help you to walk in His truth. When you become a learner and choose to walk in His truth, it positions you to hear and follow and walk toward the plan God has for you. To walk in His truth means you read scripture and listen to God’s voice in His Word. It will help you grow in your faith and keep you walking on the path of life!

So, if you don’t know exactly what to do, let God’s Word guide you. Ask Him to “SET” your path by showing you His purpose, establishing your steps, and teaching you His way. He will hear you and answer you.

And, remember, no matter what you face or how you feel or where you find yourself, you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength.
